Disney World Offers Miltary Discounts on Resorts - Walt Disney Parks and Resorts

In 2010 - 2011, Walt Disney World Resort is offering hotel room discounts of up to 40% for eligible military personnel and their families.

Walt Disney World (WDW) has released 2010 – 2011 room-only discounts for military members and their families. This special offer, good for most dates of the promotion period, provides Disney discounts at official WDW Resorts for eligible military members, their spouses and families.

Active and retired U.S. military personnel or their spouses are eligible to book these discounted Disney Resort rooms. Active and retired members of the U.S. Coast Guard, and active members of the National Guard or Reservists may also take advantage of these deals.

Update, May 3: Disney Parks Blog announced they will extend military discounts into September 2012. Details are pending, and this article will be updated as more information is available.

Walt Disney World Resorts, 2010 – 2011 Room-only Discounts for Military Personnel

Eligible military personnel may save up 40% off WDW hotel rooms, based on regular rack rate. Discounts are valid when booking room-only hotel stays, in advance. Discounts vary with the level of WDW Resort accommodation:

Disney Value Resorts: 30% off regular rack rates;
Disney Moderate Resorts and Fort Wilderness Cabins: 35% off; and
Disney Deluxe Resorts and Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts: 40% off.

This military room-only discount offer is valid for most nights through Oct. 1, 2011.

A limited number of rooms are available, and blockout dates for this offer apply to peak holiday periods:

Nov. 24 – Nov. 26, 2010;
Dec. 26 – Dec. 31, 2010; and
April 17 – April 30, 2011.
During these dates, full room rack rate is in effect.

A valid military ID is required at time of hotel check-in.

Restrictions & Exclusions on Disney Military Room-only Discounts

There are number of restrictions for booking a special offer at a WDW resort hotel. A select number of Walt Disney World Resort rooms are available for this promotion, and minimum length of stay may be in effect for Friday or Saturday arrivals. No group rates or other discounts apply; Disney does not permit doubling up on offers. Additional charges may apply, depending on room size, if more than two adults stay in one room.

Excluded from this promotion are Shades of Green, the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin, and Downtown Disney resorts; although on WDW property, these properties are not owned and operated by Disney. These accommodations may offer, and often do offer, special military pricing.

Shades of Green, in particular, is an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) that consistently offers good prices and packages for military members and their families. The resort is considered the equivalent of a Disney Deluxe Resort; although it does not offer all the amenities of an official hotel, rooms tend to be considerably less expensive than that level of Disney Resort.

Disney Room-only Military Discounts – Disney Dining Plan and Walt Disney World Tickets

Guests who book this military discount package may add the Disney Dining Plan (DDP) to their hotel reservations, subject to standard, non-discounted fees for the chosen dining plan.

Note: Adding the DDP to a WDW room-only reservations changes the booking to a vacation package. Those reservations are subject to Disney package rules and restrictions regarding such things as payment and cancellation.

Guests who book a WDW hotel room with a military discount may not add theme-park tickets to their reservations. 2011 Disney Military Promotional Tickets are available for military members and their families again at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
