Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons can host ceremonies at outdoor wedding venues, including gardens and beaches. Or such celebrations can be held indoors at a number of resorts and Disney’s Wedding Pavilion. Some lucky brides and grooms (princesses and princes?) even choose to exchange vows inside the theme parks, a unique “dreams come true” ceremony. The choices are only limited by a couple’s needs, imagination, and budget.
Disney’s Popular Wedding Venues
While tlocation for a couple’s ceremony can truly be individualized to reflect a couple’s interests – ceremonies have been held at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and in front of Cinderella Castle during the Walt Disney World marathon – what follows are seven wedding venues featured in Walt Disney World Wedding & Honeymoon packages.
- Disney’s Wedding Pavilion: This top wedding venue is located near the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and its design complements the hotel’s Victorian architecture. Located on an island on the Seven Seas Lagoon, the non-denominational chapel features a glass-enclosed solarium that provides a view of the surrounded beaches and the Magic Kingdom. According to George Aguel, Senior Vice President of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, “The pavilion gives couples an elegant indoor setting with the romance of Cinderella Castle visible in the distance.”
- Sunset Pointe, Disney’s Polynesian Resort: Sunset Point is also located on the Seven Seas Lagoon, but near the tropical-themed Polynesian Resort. This small site, surrounded by palm trees and white sand beaches, also offers a view of Cinderella Castle that sets a romantic tone for an outdoor ceremony.
- Wedding Gazebo, Disney’s Yacht Club: Situated in Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club’s rose garden, the white-washed gazebo, with heart-shaped patterns, fits in with the sister resorts’ turn-of-the-century New England seaside theme. Its manicured lawns and striking lighthouse backdrop offer striking photograph opportunities.
- Sea Breeze Point, BoardWalk: Sea Breeze Point’s size and location, tucked away near the shores of Crescent Lake just steps away from the busy BoardWalk area, is perfect for intimate weddings of 20 people or fewer.
- Croquet Lawn, BoardWalk: Set on the manicured lawns of the BoardWalk, and with views of Crescent Lake and the resort’s lush gardens, this venue works for larger weddings – and its proximity to the BoardWalk entertainment district offers a choice of nearby reception venues.
- Sunrise Terrace, Wilderness Lodge: Designed to showcase the Lodge’s Pacific Northwest theme, this 4th floor balcony overlooks the Bay Lake. The terrace’s view of the resort waterfall and a regal stand of pine trees provides the backdrop for very small, intimate weddings.
- Swan Boat Landing, Magic Kingdom: With its location between Main Street U.S.A. and Tomorrowland, Swan Boat Landing is the location for getting married inside the Magic Kingdom. The spot offers couples the opportunity to exchange vows near Cinderella Castle and the rose garden.
Available wedding venues also include sites at many of the pavilions in Epcot’s World Showcase and sites inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons
Specialists working for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons will help couples plan their ceremony, as well as optional reception, based on one of several Disney wedding packages. Or, for a lavish and “sky’s the limit” event, specialists will help couples design a one-of-a-kind Disney wedding. In either case, couples can tailor the event and venue to their needs by adding additional floral decorations or musicians, ordering customized videography services, and even inviting Disney characters.
Walt Disney World weddings, vow renewals, and commitment ceremonies come are based on three standard packages: the Escape Collection, the Wishes Collection, and the Couture Collection. 2010 prices begin at $12,000, while the average cost for a Disney wedding with 50 guests falling around $20,000. Of course, special options, like the appearance of favorite Disney characters at the reception, add to both the event’s magic and the wedding package’s bottom line.
Part of the appeal of a destination wedding is that it promises an imaginative stage for a memorable wedding. By offering a number of venues for ceremonies and receptions, for events both small and large, Walt Disney World offers couples a Disney wedding which can tailored to meet a couple’s specific needs and tastes.
