- Disney Cruises for IllumiNations & Wishes - bunnygoth
Couples planning a romantic Walt Disney World (WDW) vacation – or adding some couple’s time to a family trip – might consider reserving special-occasion activities. These activities enhance the romance of a Disney trip and offer memorable ways to celebrate engagements, weddings or vow renewals, anniversaries, and holidays such as Valentine’s Day.
Specialty Cruises for Magic Kingdom Fireworks and Epcot’s IllumiNations
WDW offers nighttime cruises that offer a less crowded and more exclusive viewing experience for Magic Kingdom’s Wishes or Epcot’s IllumiNations. These cruises, which need not be reserved only during these park’s nightly shows, allow couples a chance to celebrate special occasions privately or with small groups of family and friends. Cruises can house up to 18 guests, depending the size of the yacht or pontoon.
Disney’s specialty cruises vary in price, starting near $300, and depart from several different locations. Regardless of the price point, the cruises are very popular. Reservations are taken up to 180 days and accepted up to 24 hours in advance, and are highly recommended. Call (407) WDW-PLAY (407-939-7529) for more information on availability, pricing, and departure locations.
Horse and Carriage Rides at Disney Resorts
Evening carriage rides are available at Port Orleans Riverside and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and tour their respective resorts. These approximately 25-minute excursions are offered nightly between 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., weather permitting. Small carriages accommodate 2 adults (and a small child), while larger carriages can accommodate up to 4 adults (or 2 adults and 3 children, ages 9 and under). For extra celebration flair, guests may bring their own drinks along.
Current cost for carriage rides is $45 (tax included), paid in cash or by resort charge card. Reservations may be made at (407) WDW-PLAY (407-939-7529) up to 180 days in advance. Walk-up reservations, if available, are also accepted. A fee equal to the cost of the ride is applicable for no-shows or for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice.
Couples Massage and Spa Treatments at Walt Disney World
Spa services, whether given as special-occasion gifts or as part of a joint experience, provides couples with relaxing and romantic opportunities. Walt Disney World offers four full-service spas on Walt Disney World Property. All offer a full range of salon and spa services, including a variety of facials, massages, and body treatments. In addition, the spas at Grand Floridian, Saratoga Springs, and Dolphin Resorts offer packages for couples. (The Spa at Buena Vista Palace, in Downtown Disney, does not.)
The Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs house Niki Bryan Spa facilities, which use Amala products. The Grand Floridian location services include couples massage and instructional massage packages, while Saratoga Springs features couples relaxation and aromatherapy options. For more information about the Niki Bryan Spa, or to make reservations up to a year in advance, contact the Grand Floridian location at (407) 823-2332 or the Saratoga Springs location at 702-827-4455.
The WDW Dolphin Resort houses Mandara Spa, a Balinese themed spa that features Mandara’s Elemis product line. Packages for two include a couple’s massage or a Mandara ritual retreat; an in-suite option is also available for Swan and Dolphin Resort guests. For more information about the Mandara Spa at the Walt Disney World Dolphin, visit their website or call (407) 934-4SPA (407-934-4772).
Walt Disney World is sometimes seen as a vacation destination only for families with children. In addition to staying at one of Disney World’s resorts and dining at Disney’s signature restaurants, the above activities can help couples plan their perfect romantic getaway, celebrate a special occasion, or enjoy an adult’s night out.
