Walt Disney World offers packages and services, filled with options and special touches, to help couples design their ideal wedding, vow renewal, or commitment ceremony.

Walt Disney World Resort (WDW) is a popular choice for couples seeking a destination wedding that combines a romantic setting with a fun-filled honeymoon. In addition to its ranking as a top U.S. honeymoon location, Walt Disney World News reports WDW is the site for over 1600 marriages each year as well as an increasing number of engagements, vow renewals, and commitment ceremonies.

Couples work closely with Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons to select the ceremony package that best reflects their needs. Disney’s specialists will then help the couple customize that package with add-on options.

Packages include an intimate couples’ ceremony, a small event attended by close family and friends, or a larger, more lavish resort wedding with reception. Couples may even design a dream theme-park extravaganza complete with Cinderella’s coach and a reception with Disney characters.

Walt Disney World Wedding Packages

WDW offers three packages that can be customized as the couple’s needs, interests, and budgets allow. All Disney wedding packages include the ceremony and related services, photography and wedding website, and celebratory refreshments.

The Escape Collection specializes in smaller affairs, providing a ceremony for the couple and up to 18 guests. Escape packages include the couple’s venue choice from select locations, limousine transportation, professional photography, a musician, floral bouquet and boutonnière, small cake and keepsake topper, and a champagne toast. Escape packages offer a simple, stress-free ceremony, though guests may still request enhancements to further personalize the experience.

The Wishes Collection gives couples the opportunity to celebrate with their friends and family with a ceremony followed by a private reception at a WDW resort or theme park. As more extensive affairs, the Wishes Collection offers a higher degree of customization and greater variety of venues than does the Escape.

With the Couture Collection, couples collaborate with Disney wedding specialists in designing a unique ceremony. Couples may base their plans on four available styles created by celebrity wedding planner David Tutera or create their own. The most elaborate package, this collection offers couples the chance to create the Disney celebration of their dreams.

Walt Disney World Ceremonies Held in Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, Theme Parks and Resorts

WDW offers a number of picturesque venues for a wedding, commitment or vow renewal ceremony and receptions, which allows couples to express their personality.

Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, set on a private island on the Seven Seas Lagoon near the Grand Floridian, resembles a glass-enclosed Victorian summer house. With its location and stunning view of Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle, the Pavilion is a preferred location for many small ceremonies.

Several WDW resorts are also sites for weddings and receptions, including the sandy beaches or gazebos of the Epcot and Boardwalk areas, the tropical setting of the Polynesian, and the natural beauty of Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Disney theme parks, many couples’ dream venues, are also available for custom wedding and reception packages. Guests may choose the fantasy-come-true backdrop of Magic Kingdom, an international pavilion at Epcot’s World Showcase; the red-carpet glamour in Disney’s Hollywood Studios; or a safari-themed adventure at Animal Kingdom.

Disney’s Wedding Package Options & Special Touches

Couples personalize their experience through the choice of honeymoon resort, wedding package or ceremony and reception venues, of course. But couples may also customize their wedding or honeymoon with custom options, called enhancements, for additional fees.

Some enhancements and Disney special touches:

Appearances by Disney characters at the reception
Themed wedding attendants for the ceremony
Transportation to the ceremony in a horse-drawn coach or vintage automobile
Themed opportunities, such a Cinderella wedding complete with castle-shaped cake, a “Beauty and the Beast” Ball, or a “Hollywood Grandeur” reception
Additional musicians, live orchestras, or bands
Menus, designer wedding cakes, and signature cocktails
Invitations, décor and lighting
Bouquets, floral arrangements, and Mickey and Minnie topiaries
Photography & videography packages, portrait sessions, and a wedding website

Couples can also customize their honeymoons, helped by Disney’s honeymoon registry, by staying at various Disney resorts, Disney Cruise Lines, and Adventures by Disney.

Pricing for Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding & Honeymoon

Prices for WDW wedding packages, which do not include hotel accommodations, start at around $5000 for the Escape Collection. Wishes packages begin at $12,000, while the Couture Collection starts at $65,000. The average price for a Disney wedding, with approximately 50 guests, is $20,000; according to the research firm The Wedding Report, the average cost of a U.S. wedding in 2009 fell just under that number, at $19,581.
